A host of top flight clubs, including the likes of Arsenal, Leicester and West Ham are reportedly interested in Roma’s Guinean medio Amadou Diawara. Italian media reports suggest that the Giallorossi are ready to sell, and that an offer around the 18-million-euro mark could be enough to land the 23-year-old.
Diawara joined Roma from Napoli last summer and is contracted to the capital outfit till 2024. He’s however only made five league appearances for them this season and contracted Covid after returning from international duty in October. Only one of those five games saw him start- the opener against Verona, where a mistake in reporting his age saw a 1-0 Roma win turned into a 3-0 defeat. The four off the bench (against Juve, Parma, Sassuolo and Bologna) have seen him involved in only 36 minutes of match action.
Apart from Napoli and Roma, Diawara has also represented Bologna in Serie A and Lega Pro outfit San Marino. He has Italian citizenship but represents Guinea in international football.
Diawara is primarily a defensive midfielder, a position that West Ham in particular could be very interested in if the widely rumoured sale of club captain Declan Rice to Chelsea materialises soon.
