Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has emerged as the new favourite to take over the reins at Cardiff City. The Bluebirds, who recently parted company with Dave Jones, are on the lookout for a new manager and Shearer is being heavily linked in the media with the Championship outfit.
Watford boss Malky McKay was the earlier favourite to be appointed manager but the Hornets have denied any approach from Cardiff for their gaffer. Apart from McKay, Mark Robins and Lee Clark are the others in the running. Mark Hughes and Chris Houghton also in the fray, but look less likely.
Several bookmakers have now reduced the odds on Shearer dramatically and have him as their favourite to take over as Bluebirds boss.
