French Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux have officially complained to FIFA regarding Newcastle United courting their want away striker Modibo Maiga. The Malian has refused to train with FCSM in order to get a move to Tyneside done. However Sochaux have insisted that he is not for sale and have asked FIFA to stop Newcastle from directly contacting him. Maiga is contracted to Sochaux till 2014.
Sochaux also added that they had asked Newcastle, without success, on two separate occasions, to stop violating Article 18 of the current international transfer regulations.
Maiga was Sochaux’s joint top scorer last season with 15 goals. He is rated at about £7m by Newcastle, who have already signed several French players in this summer transfer window and wish to add him to their list of acquisitions.
