Premier League Southampton are being linked with a £7million move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper. The striker recently scored one of the goals against Spartak Moscow that saw the Scottish champions reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
Hooper has been a prolific goal scorer in recent years, but his career in England only took him to the third and second tier. He has in the past admitted that he would like a crack at the top flight, but surely wouldn’t be looking to leave Celtic Park with Celtic doing so well in European football.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins is looking to strengthen his attack in January and has previously managed Hooper at Scunthorpe. Hooper has ambitions of playing for the England team, but his form has yet to yield a call-up, despite him scoring 13 goals in 21 appearances this season.
