Southampton have pulled off something of a coup by signing Fiorentina striker Papa Wiago. The Senegalese international will formally complete a season-long loan move when his work permit comes through. The Saints could complete a permanent next summer if the player’s loan is successful.
The 25 year-old has played for Italian sides Verona, Genoa, Cesena and Lecce and is highly rated. Saints boss Alan Pardew told the Southampton official website: “We wanted another creative player and he comes highly recommended.
“He’s a quick, creative forward player who will help us score more goals and I can’t wait to see him in a Saints shirt.”
The player himself revealed: “I am excited to be coming to England and I’m looking forward to showing the Southampton fans what I can do.”
The south coast side have also completed the signing of former Birmingham and Bolton defender Radhi Jaidi on a free transfer. The Tunisian international was released by Birmingham City earlier this summer and has signed a two-year deal at St Marys.
Jaidi told the clubs official website: “The first thing for me is the fact that Southampton is a big club and I have known that ever since I came to England.
“As soon as I was given the opportunity to come here I accepted because I know this club has a big infrastructure.
“I think I can add strength and experience to the team, and that’s what I will bring to help us reach our targets.”
