Spanish defender Joan Capdevila has hinted at an exit from Benfica this winter. The left back, the only non Real Madrid and Barcelona player in Spain’s 2010 World Cup winning lineup, joined Benfica from Villarreal CF this summer but coach Jorge Jesus has left him out in the cold, not even including him in their Champions League squad.
Jesus has openly stated his preference for Emerson at left back following Fabio Coentrao’s sale to Real Madrid earlier this summer. Failure to garner regular football could cost Capdevila his spot for Spain at the forthcoming European Championships.
Both Juventus and Napoli are said to be interested in Capdevila and his agent has said that a meeting would be arranged soon.
