Mega-rich Premier League side Manchester City are being linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao’s talented youngster Javi Martinez. The 21 year-old midfielder is a hot prospect in Spain and is expected to make a move to a bigger club this summer.
Martinez is a Spanish under-21 international and has previously been linked with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. Midfield is an area of the field that City are hoping to strengthen in the near future and Martinez could be an ideal acquisition.
However the youngster himself has curbed talk of a move. He told Marca: “Nobody has told me anything, not my agent or anyone else,”
“I try to avoid this kind of talk as much as possible as it would be wrong of me to divert my attention from the games we have coming up.
“I do not know if the stories are true, as you can never tell if what comes out in the media are truths or not-so-truths.”
The midfielder has stated that he sees Bilbao as a good club for a young players development and he is currently happy playing football where he is. A big money offer in the summer however could maybe persuade him to change his mind.
