Numerous outlets including The Independent and The Guardian are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are set to move for Athletico Madrid starlet Thomas Lemar.
If reports are to be believed, Mourinho’s side are ready to appraoch Lemar with a loan offer which would come with the option to make the deal permanent for €60-million in the summer.
Lemar has not had the happiest of times since arriving at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. He scored just three times in 31 appearances in the 2018-19 campaign and has failed to find the back of the net in 18 league appearances so far this season.
Despite this, it is without question that the winger has enormous talent. The 24-year-old has 24 caps for France, one of the best international sides of the last 20 years. One and a half bad seasons shouldn’t discount this.
Indeed, before he joined Diego Simeone at Athletico, Lemar was coveted by many of the best teams in Europe including Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal. How Lemar, a pacey winger with excellent technical ability, would feature in a Jose Mourinho system remains to be seen.
