Spurs sign rising Spanish star

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of rising Spanish star Bryan Gil from Sevilla for a reported fee of around £22m. The deal will also see Erik Lamela move the other way to the Andalusian outfit, ending the Argentine star’s stay in North London.

Gil has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at Spurs till 2026 and is the club’s first signing of the summer window. He is currently on international duty with the Spanish national team at the Olympics in Japan, and made his senior debut for La Roja in March earlier this year against Greece.

Lamela joined Spurs from Roma back in 2013 and has made over 250 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites in his eight-year stay in the capital. Apart from Spurs and Roma, he has also plied his trade for River in his native Argentina, but Sevilla will be his first taste of Spanish top flight footy.

The 20-year-old Gil is a Sevilla youth product and has previously had loan stints at both Leganes and Eibar. He will become the second Spaniard at the club currently after left back Sergio Reguilon, his former team mate at Sevilla.
