Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering swapping Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko for Liverpool’s Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun. The Lilywhites are also reported to be wanting an additional £2m in cash from Liverpool to send Pavlyuchenko to Merseyside.
Liverpool had shown interest in Pavlyuchenko during the winter transfer window, but could not agree terms with Spurs. However Pavlyuchenko’s valuation has shot up because of his good form for Spurs in 2010 and with Harry Redknapp’s side having qualified for the Champions League next season, the tall Russian may not want to leave White Hart Lane.
Lokomotiv Moscow were also close to bringing Pavlyuchenko back to Russia in January, but head coach Yuri Semin has now stated that it will be “difficult” to get the Pavlyuchenko deal done.
Liverpool are also considering their options for Benayoun- with the likes of Aston VIlla, AS Roma and Sevilla also having expressed interest in the former Santander midfielder.
