Cheltenham have completed the signing of midfielder Luke Summerfield on a free transfer. Summerfield, who was a free agent after his release from Plymouth Argyle, spent the last few weeks on trial at Cheltenham and impressed Robins boss Mark Yeates enough in the club’s pre-season fixtures to get a new deal.
Summerfield, 23, has put pen to paper a one year deal at the Abbey Business Stadium. Summerfield, a product of Plymouth’s youth system, joined it in 1998. He has also had previous loan stints at AFC Bournemouth and Leyton Orient.
In the early stages of career, Summerfield was touted for an call up to the England U-19 squad and was hailed as one of the finest young prospects in English football. However his career has not quite reached those heights and he will be aiming to rebuild it at Cheltenham.
