Sunderland AFC have confirmed the signings of Sebastian Larsson and Keiren Westwood on a free transfer. The duo will officially join the Black Cats on July 1 after their contracts with Birmingham and Coventry respectively end on June 30.
Midfielder Larsson chose to leave Birmingham after they were relegated from the 10/11 edition of the Premier League while goalkeeper Westwood chose the Black Cats as he wanted to play top flight football.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce had earmarked Larsson and Westwood as possible Bosman signings in the summer and will be delighted to get both of them at Wearside.
Bruce is still pursuing other options, especially in the striking department, where he is chasing both Ipswich starlet Connor Wickham and Chunnam Dragons forward Dong Ji Won, although the latter’s arrival looks a greater probability than the former’s.
