Sunderland AFC have announced the signing of right back Marcos Angeleri from Argentine outfit Estudiantes. The 27 year old has moved to the Stadium of Light for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three year deal with the Wearsiders.
Angeleri, who has won three international caps for Argentina, becomes the third South American in the Black Cats’ ranks after Paulo da Silva and Cristian Riveros.
The La Plata born defender has made over 175 appearances for Estudiantes since 2002, and won the 2006 Apertura and 2009 Copa Libertadores with them.
Angeleri becomes Steve Bruce’s fifth summer acquisition at the Stadium of Light after Riveros, Titus Bramble, Simon Mignolet and Ahmed Al-Muhammadi.
