Sunderland have strengthened their attacking options with the £5million signing of striker Danny Graham from Swansea. Graham has signed a three-and-a-half year contract in his native north east. Graham earlier turned down a move to former-club Middlesbrough, after Swansea had accepted a bid from Boro.
Graham has scored seven goals in 23 games this season, but ten of those appearances came as a substitute. The 27 year-old has grown frustrated this season, with Spanish sensation Michu keeping him out the team at times.
Graham was the Swans top scorer last season and was expected to kick-on this season and have the same effect. However, Michu has been in superb form, playing out of position as the lone striker. Sunderland were in desperate need of signing a striker to support top goal scorer Steven Fletcher.
The Black Cats have parted company with strikers Louis Saha, Ji Dong-Won and Fraizer Campbell during the January transfer window. That meant that Fletcher was the only senior striker at the club. Graham should definitely be a welcome addition to the squad.
