Blackpool have completed the signing of veteran striker Kevin Phillips, the club have confirmed. Phillips, 37, was a free agent after his contract with Birmingham City expired and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway quickly moved in order to take advantage of his vast experience and goal scoring record.
Phillips has signed a one year contract with the Tangerines which includes the option for another possible twelve month extension next summer. Blackpool entertained one and all in the Premier League last season but were condemned to an immediate return to the Championship on the final day of the season.
Phillips is best known for his six year stint at Sunderland, but he has also represented Watford, Southampton, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion apart from Birmingham in his nearly two decade old career.
