League One club Hull City have completed the signing of promising youngster Regan Slater on loan from Premiership outfit Sheffield United. The 21-year-old will be at the KCOM Stadium till the end of the 2020/21 season and becomes the Tigers’ tenth signing of the summer.
Midfielder Slater, an United academy graduate, has made only three senior appearances for the Blades so far and has already had loan stints at Carlisle United and Scunthorpe. Both clubs were in League Two at the time of his switch, while Hull currently play in the third tier.
Hull were in the Premier League as recently as the 2016/17 season, but have fallen to League One after two relegations.
Slater could potentially make his Hull debut this weekend when the Tigers square off against Plymouth Argyle at home. Grant McCann’s men have had a successful start to the new League One season, winning all three of their games so far, scoring five goals and letting in none.
Hull also claimed the scalps of Sunderland and fellow Yorkshire rivals Leeds in the EFL Cup, but were eventually eliminated by a strong West Ham team, who beat the Tigers 5-1 in the next round.
