Everton have completed the signing of young right back Nathan Patterson from Glasgow Rangers. The 20-year-old has put pen to paper a five-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at Goodison Park till the summer of 2027. Everton didn’t officially disclose the transfer fee paid for the youngster, but reports estimate it to be around the £12m mark, with a further £4m payable in addons.
The Toffees have been long time admirers of Patterson but had two bids for him rejected in the summer. Patterson’s arrival follows that of Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dinamo Kyiv a few days ago, and Everton will be hoping that the duo can be solid, long-term performers at right and left back for the club, potentially replicating the Seamus Coleman-Leighton Baines combo from a few years ago.
Patterson, a Rangers youth product, has already been capped internationally by Scotland. He scored his first international goal against Moldova back in November.
Everton are 15th in the table currently and will face Hull City in the FA Cup this weekend, followed by a midweek clash at home against Leicester City. Rafa Benitez’s men are only eight points ahead of the drop zone, with third from bottom Burnley also having a game in hand over them.
