Everton are said to be interested in a permanent move for Chelsea’s Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi. The 25 year old was sent on loan to Valencia at the beginning of the season, but has failed to impress at the Mestalla, and the La Liga outfit have decided to terminate his loan deal.
Everton already have Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea, and transfer regulations do not allow them to have a similar deal for Batshuayi. However the Toffees are interested in securing him on a permanent deal should the fee be right.
Chelsea are themselves in the market for a striker, with rumours linking them to a move for Gonzalo Higuain, who has played under current Blues coach Maurizio Sarri at Napoli. Despite their problems upfront, Batshuayi doesn’t appear to have a future under Sarri, with the Italian gaffer saying earlier this week that the club needed “something different”. Higuain’s age could prove to be a stumbling block in Sarri’s desire for a permanent deal, with the Blues board unwilling to offer long term contracts to players above 30.
The Toffees will have competition from Crystal Palace and Fulham, both of whom are also reportedly interested in the Belgian forward, as well as French giants Marseille.
