Tottenham have reportedly agreed personal terms with Brazilian midfielder Sandro, who will complete his transfer to the London club in a few days time. Tottenham will pay his current club Internacional £6.5million for his services. The talks collapsed last month when Tottenham failed to meet the deadline set by Internacional. Sandro, then travelled to London before Christmas and was in constant contact with Spurs, which led to the revival of the deal. But the deal could still face a lot of stumbling blocks. Tottenham must first offload Roman Pavyluchenko but it would be difficult to find suitors given his £15million price tag. Internacional manager Jorge Fossati is reluctant to sanction the deal as he wants Sandro to compete in Copa Libertadores, South America’s version of the Champions League. Also, the fact that Sandro is owned partly (30%) by third party investors could prove to be another problem.
The 20-year old defensive midfielder has played 34 times for Internacional scoring only once. He recently made his full Brazil debut against Chile on 9 September 2009 when he came on as a substitute in the 68th minute. Inter Milan were also interested in the talented Brazilian but decided against making an offer.
