Tottenham are favourites to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, after the highly-rated striker handed in a transfer request at Villa Park. Benteke scored 19 Premier League goals for Villa in his first campaign in the English top-flight, following a £7million move from Genk last summer.
Speculation had been rife that the youngster would be leaving Villa this summer and this latest development will only add to that speculation. Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are also reported to be interested in signing the striker, but Tottenham are the favourites with the bookmakers.
Brazilian wonderkid and alleged Spurs target Bernard has five offers on the table this summer according to his agent. The 20-year-old is rated as one of the hottest young talents in his homeland.
His club Atletico Mineiro have revealed that they will only sell the youngster if they receive the right offer. Bernard is also believed to be unwilling to leave the Brazilian club while they are still in the Copa Libertadores.
The attacking midfielder has also been linked with Portuguese giants FC Porto and Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund. Spurs look unlikely to pursue their interest after signing Bernard’s compatriot Paulinho.
