According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are in negotiations with Brazilian club Corinthians about the signing of Brazil international Paulinho. The central midfielder is rated in the £17million bracket and it seems that negotiations are at an advanced stage.
Paulinho is currently at the Confederations Cup with his national side and scored the equaliser for the Selacao in their recent 2-2 draw with England. Paulinho is highly rated and previously attracted the attention of Italian giants Inter.
Paulinho has been playing in the anchorman role in midfield for his nation, but plays in a more advanced role for his club. The 24-year-old provides a good physical presence in both penalty areas.
Spurs are also being linked with another Brazilian star in Atletico Mineiro’s attacking midfielder Bernard. The youngster is rated as the one of the next big stars in Brazilian football and wanted by a host of other European clubs.
Portuguese giants Porto look like the favourites to capture the youngster, but his agent has stated that he does not have a preference where his future lies this summer. It is unlikely that the talented youngster will remain in his homeland much longer though.
