Harry Redknapp is lining up an offer to bring Uruguay striker Diego Forlan back to the Premiership for a second stint. The 31-year old who scored twice in the recently concluded game against South Africa had a three year stint with Manchester United where he managed to score just ten goals in 62 appearances. After moving to Spain, Forlan has gone from strength to strength where he averages more than a goal every two games. Forlan scored a brace in the Europa League final against Fulham for Atletico Madrid last month. Atletico want in excess of £12million for their star forward but Tottenham might are not willing offer above £8.5million for the South American star.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s chase of Steven Pienaar may prove to be unfruitful as Everton have offered him the biggest deal in the history of the club. David Moyes has tabled a four-year deal worth £55,000 a week which would make the South African the top paid player at the club. Tottenham were on the verge of making a £10million bid after the player had turned down two previous contracts at Goodison Park.
