Joe Cole has held talks with Tottenham about a possible move to White Hart Lane.
Cole became a free agent at the end of the season following the termination of his contract at Chelsea.
After returning from the World Cup the 28-year-old England star wants to sort out his future early before the new Premier League season starts.
Cole has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd, but now Spurs are hoping to beat them all to the skillful midfielders signature.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is a big admirer of Joe Cole having managed him during his time in charge at West Ham and he feels the former Chelsea star would make a great addition to his squad.
Redknapp said: “You know he’s got lots of options, I think quite a few clubs want him,”
“I had a great relationship with him as a kid; I signed him when he was 11 years of age.
“As I said before he lived for football, he was the best schoolboy footballer I have ever seen without a doubt.
