Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of former Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo on a short-term deal. The 28-year-old striker was a free agent after being released by French club Toulouse at the end of last season, and has inked a deal with the Terriers till the end of the current 2020/21 campaign.
Sanogo had moved to Arsenal from Auxerre in 2013, but managed only 11 league appearances in his four year stay at the Emirates. He also had loan spells at Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton Athletic before joining Ligue 1 club Toulouse on a three-year deal in the summer of 2017.
Sanogo made 33 appearances across all competitions for TFC in his first season at the club, but that reduced to 23 and 16 over the next two campaigns. He found the back of the net 9 times in 2017/18, but could only manage 7 across the remaining two seasons put together.
Sanogo has been capped by France at various youth levels, but wasn’t quite able to make the step up to the senior Les Bleus team.
Huddersfield are currently 19th in the Championship table and were beaten 2-0 by Derby County in their last game. They will play Preston North End away at Deepdale this weekend.
