Transfer deadline day special part one

Everton have completed the £6million signing of Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga. The Dutch international arrived on Merseyside today for a medical and has signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park.

Portsmouth have completed the signing of Manchester City defender Tal Ben Haim for a undisclosed fee. The Israeli has signed a four-year deal at Fratton Park. Pompey have also completed the £3million signing of Watford defender Mike Williamson. The south coast side have also signed Benfica midfielder Hassan Yedba on a season-long loan deal.

Portsmouth have sold midfielder Niko Kranjcar to Tottenham for a fee in the region of £2million. Hull City have completed the season-long loan signing of Stoke defender Ibrahima Sonko. Stoke have replaced the big Senegal international with Sunderland defender Danny Collins for a potential fee of £3.5million.

Aston Villa have also strengthened their defence with the £5million signing of West Ham centre-back James Collins. Burnley made a late swoop to sign Portsmouth striker David Nugent on a season-long loan deal.

Newcastle have resigned attacker Peter Lovenkrands. The Danish international left earlier in the summer when his contract at the Magpies expired. Scottish giants Rangers have completed the signing of French wing wizard Jerome Rothen from Paris St Germain on a season-long loan.
