Barnsley have completed the signing of Michael Tonge on loan from Stoke City. Tonge was recently linked with a switch to SPL side Hibernian but the move collapsed and he has now opted to join the Tykes on loan till the end of the season. Tonge joined Stoke from Sheffield United in 2008 for £2m but failed to break into the starting XI at the Britannia Stadium and has now been allowed to go out on loan to garner some regular football.
Barnsley are sitting a lowly 15th in the Championship at this moment, having collected 36 points from 27 games so far. Manager Keith Hill will be hoping that Tonge’s abilities will help them move above the table.
