According to reports from Belgium, Manchester United are interested in rising Belgian star Mandela Keita, currently on loan at Antwerp from OH Leuven. The Red Devils are looking at revamping their midfield next season, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen not getting any younger and Sofyan Amrabat unlikely to extend his current loan stint.
21-year-old defensive midfielder Keita has been identified as a potential target, but United face competition from the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham for the Belgian international’s signature.
Villa are a whopping 11 points ahead of United in the league table following the latter’s disappointing 3-1 loss to arch rivals Man City over the weekend. The Red Devils managed only 0.12 xG and had just three shots over the duration of the entire game – the lowest by any league team against City this season so far.
United are also keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres and have sent scouts to watch him in action in Portugal. However fellow league clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in the Swedish forward, who has a reported 100-million-euro release clause.
United’s next game is against Sean Dyche’s Everton, who lost 3-1 at home to West Ham in the previous round of fixtures.
