Manchester United have officially announced the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte from PSG. The Uruguayan medio moves for a 50 million euro fee, with a further 10 million euros potentially payable in add-ons. Ugarte has signed a five year contract which will keep him at Old Trafford till the summer of 2029, with the option for a further twelve months also built into the deal.
Ugarte’s signing will be seen by United fans as a much needed one, with veteran Casemiro not getting any younger. The Uruguayan is expected to be a first team starter and partner the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in midfield.
The 23-year-old Ugarte started his career with Fenix in his native Uruguay before joining Famalicao in 2020. Next summer he joined Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon and was with them for two seasons before PSG triggered his release clause in 2023.
United have also announced the departure of Scott McTominay, with the midfielder ending a two-decade plus stay at Old Trafford to join Napoli in Serie A. The Partenopei will pay the Red Devils approximately 30 million euros for the Scottish midfielder’s services, with United also retaining a 10% sell-on clause.
