Lots of money is available at the disposal of Sir Alex Ferguson to spend in the transfer market after the record 80 million pounds they received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo. As Old Trafford gears up for life after CR7, Sir Alex has turned his attention towards Roma striker Mirko Vucinic. Reports have suggested that informal contact has been made between Manchester United and Roma and the latter would be willing to sell if fair price is met. But Montenegro forward Vucinic, who has just signed a four-year contract with the Rome club, has voiced his desire to stay in Italy, rejecting the chance to fill Ronaldo’s boots in Manchester.
“It’s certainly pleasing that a great club like that are interested in me,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “But I have only heard about it from the newspapers. “At the moment I’m only thinking about relaxing by the seaside with my family. “I’ve just signed a new contract and I’d like to stay at Roma.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s move for Luca Toni seems to landed in hot water after the player demanded an astronomically high salary. Luca Toni,32,demanded a yearly packet of 5.5 million pounds, which would have made him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League. Harry Redknapp will have to look at other alternatives, as he hunts for a tall striker to lead Spurs’ line.
