Valencia are unlikely to budge from their €30m asking price for star winger Juan Mata, according to sources in Spain. The winger has been a target for several Premier League clubs over the summer, but Los Che’s decision to stick to their price has proved to be a stumbling block in any possible switch, with north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both deciding to drop out of the race.
Chelsea however remain interested in acquiring Mata’s services and have already had a €25m bid for him rejected by the La Liga outfit. Mata’s buy out clause, a compulsory requirement according to Spanish labour contracts, is €60m.
The Blues, whose manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking to sign a winger before the end of the window, are hopeful that Fernando Torres can convince his Spanish team mate to join Stamford Bridge
