Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has indicated that he would prefer to stay at Spurs this summer despite interest from German outfit Schalke 04. The Royal Blues have registered their interest in the Dutch playmaker and are ready to pay a fee in excess of £10m for him.
But Van der Vaart, who has previous experience of playing in the Bundesliga with Hamburg, has stated that he would prefer to stay at the Lane despite Tottenham missing out on Champions League football.
Van der Vaart may chose to relocate to Germany for personal reasons as his wife works in Cologne, which is significantly closer to Schalke than London.
