Former Newcastle striker Mark Viduka is in talks over a move to Fulham. The Australia was released at the end of the season after his contract on Tyneside expired. Viduka met with Fulham boss Roy Hodgson on Thursday to discuss personal terms and to have a medical.
Portsmouth have also been linked with the 33 year-old and Pompey manager Paul Hart even claimed that he signed a contract at Fratton Park and then went AWOL. The striker was on holiday in Croatia but has now returned to discuss terms at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers are in Europe this season and that will mean extra games and will need all the attacking options available to them. And the striker will see a move back to a Premier League side as an aid to getting back in to his national squad for next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
Meanwhile Fulham have handed American midfielder Clint Dempsey a new deal, his new contract will expire in 2013. The USA star impressed last season for the Cottagers last season and was one of the stars of the American side which made it to the Confederations Cup final in the summer, only to lose3-2 unluckily to a late Brazil winner.
