Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Australian international Brett Holman at the end of the season. The Midlands outfit announced that Socceroos star Holman, will leave Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar at the end of the 11/12 season and make a switch north to England. Holman, who played at the 2010 World Cup with Australia, has been in the Netherlands for nearly a decade now. He started off with Feyenoord Rotterdam and then had spells with Excelsior and NEC Nijmegen before joining current club AZ Alkmaar.
Apart from Villa, the likes of Fulham and Blackburn Rovers were also interested in signing Holman, who was named Australia’s player of the Year in 2011.
