Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could make a return to management in Serie A, with reports in Italy linking the legendary coach to AC Milan.
The Rossoneri have had a nightmare start to the new league season and are currently languishing in 16th place after six rounds of action, just one point above the drop zone. Their fortunes are in stark contrast to bitter rivals Internazionale, who have produced a 100% start to the 2019/20 season under their own new boss Antonio Conte.
Milan appointed Marco Giampolo as their new coach in June this year, with the former Sampdoria gaffer inking a deal that would keep him at the San Siro till 2021. Giampaolo himself admitted that his side’s performance in their latest 3-1 loss to Fiorentina looked like “one that hadn’t trained together at all”
Former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis currently works at Milan, and is reportedly open to the idea of Wenger as a replacement for Giampaolo.
If he does move to Milan, this will be the veteran’s first managerial assignment in Italy. Apart from his two decade plus stint at Arsenal, he has also previously managed Nancy and Monaco in France and Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan.
