West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has admitted he would be interested in signing veteran French striker Nicolas Anelka. The former-Chelsea star is currently plying his trade in China with Shanghai Shenhua. Despite the move proving lucrative the 33 year-old Anelka is believed to be eying up a return to the British top flight.
Allardyce managed Anelka at Bolton and enjoyed working with the former-French international striker. Anelka has been accused of sulking and having a questionable temperament, but Allardyce believes that people have got Anelka all wrong.
The biggest problem facing a possible return to the Premier League could be Anelka’s huge wage packet. He is reportedly on £250,000 a week in the Far East and he would be unlikely to pick-up anything near that sum at the Boleyn Ground.
Anelka has also been linked with a possible return to Liverpool. However, Anelka’s family still live in London and a move to the English capital looks more likely.
