West Ham sign Brazilian teenager

West Ham have officially announced the signing of teenager Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras. The Hammers have paid a transfer fee of £25.5m to the Brazilian outfit for the 18-year-old’s signature.
Guilherme has put pen to paper a five-year-deal that will keep him at the London Stadium till the summer of 2029. He is also new Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui’s first signing of the summer.

Guilherme made his senior debut for Palmeiras last year and is a pacy attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing. He is one of three very highly rated youngsters in the current Palmeiras setup- the others being Endrick and Estevao, who will also move this summer to European clubs.

Despite his tender age, the teenager was part of the Brazilian squad that won the South American U20 Championship last year- the Selecao’s first continental youth title in more than a decade.

West Ham finished 9th in the Premier League last season, meaning no European football for the London outfit in 2024/25. They’ve also sold Thilo Kehrer, with AS Monaco activating their option to buy the German defender for £9.5m.

Guilherme joins fellow Brazilian Lucas Paqueta at West Ham, although there is a cloud hanging over the latter following spot fixing allegations.
