West Ham’s first away win of the season at Fulham saw them climb one spot to 19th in the BPL table. With the League table being so narrow in terms of points distribution, a string of good results could see the Hammers climb to mid-table safety. Avram Grant plans to go all out in the transfer market to ensure West Ham’s survival.
The Hammers have been linked with a move to bring Robbie Keane to Upton Park. The Ireland international is to be signed on a six-month loan deal with a permanent deal being offered at the end of the season if the Hammers stay up. Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell is also expected to switch over to West Ham when the window opens.
Grant is keen on getting attacking reinforcements for his side. Monaco striker Dieumerci Mbokani is also said to be a target for the Hammers’ boss. West Ham, reportedly, made an audacious bid to sign Manchester City’s out-of-favour striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan till the end of the season. The Hammers were ready to pay £100,000 out of his £180,000 a week salary, with the rest being paid by Manchester City. The Togolese striker though, did not seem to keen on the switch.
West Ham may be forced to sell their England international striker Carlton Cole in order to generate some much needed funds to put into the transfer market. Frederic Piquionne, though, has assured Hammers’ fans that he will stay with the club till the end of this season.
