Roberto Mancini aims to make a few additions to his squad as his side tries to push for the BPL title. With Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz certain to be on their way out of City, Mancini is left with only three strikers at the club in Tevez, Balotelli and Jo. With Balotelli being an unpredictable quantity and Jo not being able to hold his own in crunch games, the City boss is actively scouting the market for an out and out striker who could make an instant impact at City.
Edin Dzeko is top of City’s wishlist. The Bosnian star has already issued a “come-and-get-me” plea to Manchester City in the past and looks nailed-on to switch over to City when the window opens. Wolfsburg’s asking price for their forward could prove to be a stumbling block. The German outfit are demanding £37.5 million for Dzeko while City value him at £25-30 million.
City could well make a cheeky attempt to sign Fernando Torres from Liverpool. City have always been interested in getting the Liverpool star to CoMS and a big money move could tempt Torres to switch over to City, who at this point look a much better proposition that Liverpool.
Roberto Mancini has never hidden his admiration for Andy Carroll. Mancini told Italian reporters yesterday: ‘Carroll is a good player. He’s young, he’s strong, he’s very good. But I don’t think that Newcastle want to sell.’ If Mancini fails to land either Torres or Dzeko, a move for Carroll can’t be discounted.
