Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could become the next Premier League managerial casualty, with reports suggesting that the Norwegian could be fired if the club fail to achieve satisfactory results in their next two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Man City respectively.
The Red Devils have drawn their last two games against newly promoted sides Aston Villa and Sheffield United- both fixtures that would normally have been a guaranteed six points for United teams of the past. They are languishing in 9th in the table- a very unfamiliar sight for many fans who have seen their team dominate the league for the better part of the last two and a half decades.
Adding to the drama is the fact that Mauricio Pochettino, long linked with the United job, is now available after Spurs sacked him last month. The Argentine has also been linked with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but is said to prefer to stay in the Premier League.
The league has seen a spate of sackings in the last few weeks, with Pochettino, Arsenal boss Unai Emery and Watford’s Quique Sanchez Flores all shown the door.
United have eighteen points from 14 games and are already a whopping 22 points behind leaders Liverpool.
