Wolverhampton Wanderers have made their fourth signing of the summer in the form of Southampton’s Andrew Surman. The Johannesburg born defender, who can also play in midfield, has been snapped up by Mick McCarthy for a fee rumoured to be somewhere near £1.2m, which could rise to £2m in the future.
Surman, 22, has put pen to paper a three year deal at Molineux. The contract also has a clause for the three year deal to become a four year one.
Surman made over 130 appearances for Southampton, and also had spells on loan at Walsall and Bournemouth. He has been capped 4 times for England at U-21 level.
Surman is the fourth new arrival at promoted Wolves this season, after Kevin Doyle, Marcus Hahnemann and Nenad Milijas.
Wolves are also said to be close to signing Kevin Nolan. Jerko Leko and Dietmar Hamann are also being linked with the 2008-09 Coca Cola Championship winners.
