Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially completed the signing of defender Craig Dawson from West Ham. The veteran defender has moved to Molineux for a fee of £3.3m and becomes Wolves’ fourth signing of the January window after Matheus Cunha, Mario Lemina and Pablo Sarabia. The 32-year-old has put pen to paper a two and a half-year contract that will keep him in the Midlands till the summer of 2025.
Dawson initially joined West Ham back in 2020 from Watford on loan as injury cover, but impressed David Moyes enough for the deal to be converted into a permanent one. He played an important role in West Ham reaching the Europa League semi-finals last season, and made 50 appearances across all competitions for them in the 21/22 campaign.
Dawson’s signing came too late for him to be available for Wolves’ weekend clash against Manchester City, which they lost 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium. The Midlands outfit have been interested in Dawson for a while now, and he was also keen on a move north to be closer to family.
Wolves are 17th in the table at the time of writing, one point and one place behind West Ham in the league standings.
