Wolves are having a tough time finding balance in the Premier league, as their top striker and arguably best player Raul Jimenez sidelined indefinitely due to a concussion. With no return date in the frame, Wolves have turned to Liverpool striker and “legend” Divock Origi for a possible January deal.
After an remarkable 2018-2019 campaign, in which he scored one of the most important goals of the decade for Liverpool (Everton winner, Barcelona brace and a Champions league final goal), Divock Origi finds himself on the margin of this Liverpool team. With the arrival of Takumi Minamino and the sudden surge in form of Diogo Jota, opportunities are hard to come by for the Belgian forward. He has only appeared eight times this season and scored one goal (against Lincoln City in the League cup) and the rumour is he is actively seeking for an exit.
After his unfortunate collision with Arsenal’s David Luiz, Raul Jimenez is still unavailable and his return might wait until March. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo had trouble putting faith in the young Portuguese striker Fabio Silva, who scored only one goal this season. Origi might easily fit in, as he is the target man Wolves desperately need but could also play on the wing.
It is assumed Liverpool will be looking around 25€ million for the striker, since he has extended his contract until 2024. For a proven and still very young striker, that might be a bargain deal for Wolves, but considering the transfer market, he might also go on loan. Liverpool and Wolves already did business in the ongoing season, as Jota became the exciting new arrival at Anfield and Liverpool youngster Ki-Jana Hoover moving in the opposite direction. So if the opportunity arrives, the fee probably would not come into question.
