There has been considerable player movement in Spain recently. Experienced goalkeeper Dudu Aouate has moved from Deportivo to Mallorca for a fee of $2 million. Two La Liga veterans – Ivan Helguera and Jose Mari have had their contracts cancelled by Valencia and Real Betis respectively and are looking out for new employers. Dani Castellano has moved on from Mallorca to Alaves while Marc Pedraza has switched to Espanyol. Also, Raul Albiol is reportedly a target of moneybags Manchester City. Argentine international Javier Saviola, is set to depart Real Madrid with Everton, Pompey and Newcastle all reported to be interested in acquiring the striker’s services.
AC Milan have upped the ante and bid a whopping $ 46 million for the services of French winger Frank Ribery. Massimo Oddo has been thrown in as makeweight in the bid. Bayern Munich have vehemently denied the bid and the transfer is unlikely to go through especially after the non-move of Kaka. Meanwhile, Kevin Prince Boateng has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Tottenham.
Roma midfielder Danielle De Rossi is a target of Manchester City who are also trying to sign Nigel De Jong from Hamburg. If Hamburg lose de Jong to City, they will turn their attention to Mark van Bommel or Christian Poulsen to fill the void.
In France, Marseille have completed signings of Brandao from Shakthar Donetsk and Rennes’ Sylvain Wiltord while defender Gael Givet has been loaned to Blackburn Rovers. He moves to Blackburn for the rest of the season with the option for a permanent transfer. He has not made Marseille’s lineup this campaign after a spat with coach Erik Gerets.
