Manchester City’s long pursuit of Yaya Toure seems to have bore fruit as a deal is understood to have been made with Barcelona with regards to the player’s move to Eastlands after the World Cup. A fee of around £25m has been agreed and City have been able to convince the player that a move to Chelsea could see him get less playing time and could be detrimental to his career.
Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk confirmed that Yaya was close to moving to England. He was quoted as saying, “I think we will probably close his departure very soon. It is likely to be this week but at the moment we can’t announce anything.”
The move for Toure could spell the end of Stephen Ireland’s Manchester City career. Both him and Robinho might be forced out of the club. Besiktas who are managed by former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuester are interested in the Brazilian.
Manchester City have already signed Jerome Boateng from Hamburg and are hot on the pursuits of David Silva, Edin Dzeko and Mikel Arteta.
