According to reports in the Jamaican press, Aston Villa have taken young starlet Brian Brown Jr. on trial. The 19 year old, a product of Rusea’s High, has left for England to join Villa on a three week trial. Brown’s performance in youth football for Rusea have seen pundits raving about him as the next big thing in Jamaican football.
Currently, there are only two Jamaican grown players in the Premier League- Ricardo Gardner and Ricardo Fuller, but Brown’s idol will be Dwight Yorke, the Trinidad and Tobago star who excelled at Villa before becoming a household name with league giants Manchester United.
However work permit issues could become an issue even if he does succeed in his trial with Villa, as it did with Omar Cummings not too long ago.
