Former Wigan striker Amr Zaki is set for a return to the Premier League with a so far unnamed side. The Egyptian international is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move. According to the players official website he is flying into England this weekend.
It added: “The Egypt striker will move on loan until the end of the season subject to passing a medical test.
“Zaki had a meeting alongside his agent with the Zamalek board and they agreed to let the player fly to England to undergo the medical test.”
Zaki came to the attention of some of biggest clubs in Europe while on loan at Wigan. He scored 11 goals in that spell last season but also fell out with then Wigan boss Steve Bruce. The Latic’s boss criticised him for a poor attitude after he failed to return to the club on time from international duty. Bruce had the option of signing Zaki on a permanent deal from Zamalek but decided that his attitude outweighed his talent.
Zaki also caused controversy by revealing he wouldn’t sign for Premier League Portsmouth because of the presence of Avram Grant, Nadir Belhadj and Hassan Yebda. However that controversy hasn’t deterred one Premier League club rumoured to be Hull City.
